Birmingham City Council are withdrawing 65% of their funding for the Jewellery Quarter Regeneration Partnership.

It’s 20 years ago that the JQA was established to fight Birmingham City’s Plans to sweep the Quarter away. This resulted in the setting up of the Urban Village and the Regeneration Partnership. This is the biggest threat since then!

  1. Ian Martin says:

The initiative to give the Jewellery Quarter an effective voice is very welcome. Given the undoubted attraction of the area on a world stage and the number of visitors it represents an oven ready regeneration area, albeit in need of continued public sector support. More investment is neded to finish what has begun, not less. Whilst attention is diverted to other areas such as Eastside and Digbeth, the City may find itself spreading the potential for regeneration too thinly. This area has one of the best chances of succeeding but it would be good to see more progress before the support moves away and leaves the job half done.

  2. Thanks for some other magnificent article. Where else could anyone get that type of information in such an ideal method of writing? I’ve a presentation next week, and I’m at the look for such info.
